Photo-sharing pioneer Webshots today announced that it will dedicate one percent of all subscription revenue to organizations dedicated to preservation of the planet. The initial roster of organizations includes WildAid, Point Blue, Wildlife Conservation Network and Oceana. Moving forward, Webshots’ Premium members will have the opportunity to direct their support toward either Wildlife Conservation or Environmental Conservation.
“Everyday, our users tell us how Webshots enables them to see places on the planet that they may never get to see in person,” said Co-Founder and CEO, Narendra Rocherolle, “We realized that as a company and a community, we have an opportunity and a duty to be part of the preservation of our planet.”
“WildAid salutes businesses supporting environmental sustainability as part of their mission and not just as a charity cause,” said Peter Knights, Executive Director at WildAid.
The Webshots Gallery now offers 2,000 hand-selected images. Many of these images feature animals that are currently threatened either through encroachment, poaching, or climate change. In 2014 the Webshots audience has grown 500%. The company plans to broaden contributions as it continues to grow and scale.
