Proud Official Music Video to accompany Sharon Watkins internationally acclaimed pop ballad

Nottingham, England (PRUnderground) February 21, 2022

This captivating video reflects the same “dark to light” journey that the song takes us on - starting out in a 1000-year old Romanesque cathedral with our protagonist in a dark place, leading us through to a glamourous uplifting ending to accompany the defiant and empowering message of the song.

Since release, Proud has been featured globally across radio stations, press outlets and major playlists, including the “UK top 50 hits 2022” and the video was premiered in the international magazine Wonderland.

“We really wanted the video to reflect the overarching message of the song, which speaks to anyone that is in a bad place and reminds them that, regardless of what they’re going through, there is light at the end of the tunnel”

“On the morning of the shoot, it was “raining cats and dogs” and we didn’t know if we could go ahead with the outdoor scenes. Literally, as we arrived at the cathedral, the rain cleared and the sun came out. This was so representative of the “light at the end of the tunnel” theme of the song -  and also made for some gorgeous opening shots of rain coming off the building and surrounding trees”.

Proud started out as a message to the “3rd person” in a relationship, that is not welcome. One of the great moments in the video is when Sharon is looking through a grand piano and delivering that message straight into the camera.

Sharon won the UK Northern Songwriters competition and with some huge collaborators on the upcoming album including Bryan Corbett (Brand New Heavies), “Bebee” Aldridge (Gary Barlow & Macklemore), and Sammy J. Stopford (Abbey Road Studios, Glastonbury Festival, BBC Radio 1), no wonder this first single is making waves within the genre.
