“Pumpkin Angel,” the angel of Halloween, is busy blessing pumpkin patches and getting ready for Halloween trick-or-treating, says the 90-year-old  New York City author of a children’s e-book entitled Pumpkin Angel—The Angel of Halloween.

The author, George William Kelly, says his Smashwords Edition e-book is the first to reveal that the big Halloween holiday has a principal character—similar to “Santa Claus” for Christmas, or “Uncle Sam” for the Fourth of July. Until now Halloween has seen countless characters, but no principal character, Kelly adds.

Because Pumpkin Angel “loves, loves, loves” pumpkin pie, Kelly explains, the Chief Angel of Heaven appointed her to fly down to Earth every autumn. There Pumpkin Angel blesses the pumpkins and the yearly harvest. Wherever she goes, pumpkin farm families leave out slices of pumpkin pie for Pumpkin Angel. They hope she will visit and bless their pumpkin patches.

When Halloween finally arrives, Pumpkin Angel unlocks the DOOMSDAY DOOR with her “Skeleton Key.” She invites hordes of ghostly underworld characters to come out for trick-or-treating with girls and boys—and with grown-ups too. At midnight she re-locks the spirits back inside the DOOMSDAY DOOR till next Halloween.

Pumpkin Angel has a halo and wings. She wears a long purple gown, decorated with tiny pumpkins. She carries a pumpkin jack-o-lantern to light her way through spooky graveyards and past haunted houses. She waves her angel’s wand to send “butterfly” blessings over pumpkin patches and make pumpkins grow bigger and bigger.

Kelly’s e-book tells how one pumpkin blessed by Pumpkin Angel grew so big that the farmer carved it into a carriage for Pumpkin Angel. Ever since, she has traveled between Heaven and Earth in her pumpkin carriage. It is pulled by a skein of black swans and white swans. On her return to Heaven Pumpkin Angel always carries beside her a sky-high stack of pumpkin pies.
