Global people presence software provider WhosOnLocation takes its responsibility of helping keep organizations safe and secure very seriously. In 2018, they announced their intention to complete ISO-27001 accreditation. The primary driver for undertaking accreditation is to ensure WhosOnLocation continues to provide customers with confidence that the security of their information is our top priority and is secure.
Offering a world class people presence system, WhosOnLocation wanted to ensure their customers have the safest and most reliable experience.  Part of this involves migrating to AWS.

According to Andrew Thompson, WhosOnLocation’s chief security officer, the company is in its final stages of the journey, with all customers already migrated to the AWS environment.

"We are now migrated and are fully running on AWS," said Thompson. We are really pleased with how the migration went, we didn't experience any migration issues and we just have the decommissioning of our old environment left.”

Upon completion, WhosOnLocation will have moved 44 million records to its new AWS environment, and a total of 336GB of data. It was smooth sailing for the migration.

Thompson said the key benefits of moving to AWS is the flexibility it will give for the company's development life cycle, an improved product performance, increased availability and AWS aligns with the requirement of ISO-27001 in its infrastructure.

WhosOnLocation has completed its stage two audit for ISO-27001 and became fully certified in December 2019.
