3D Printing Consulting From Additive Accelerator Reduces Time-to-Market For FeverWarn

Industry: Manufacturing

Baltimore, MD (PRUnderground) July 20th, 2020

3D printing consulting firm Additive Accelerator today announced the successful 90-day production run of its project to prototype, build and take-to-market the revolutionary thermal scanning system FeverWarn, thereby proving how 3D printing technology can be a life-saving choice for some manufacturers.

Conceptualized in early February, FeverWarn is a thermal scanning system that uses the fist to measure body temperature and rapidly scan for fever at offices, businesses and large venues. Prototyping and building the product in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic was a challenge for FeverWarn as traditional molding and manufacturing supply chains were shut down all over the world. FeverWarn approached Additive Accelerator, a leader in 3D printing consulting, to find an additive manufacturing solution that would allow it to build the initial batch of products.

“Additive Accelerator prototyped the product, showed us the correct 3D technology to use, acquired the correct 3D printers for us, and successfully monitored the first 90 days of production for us, allowing us to launch and ship FeverWarn ahead of competing products. Their knowledge of 3D printing technology and expert advice has been critical to our success”, said Conrad Bessemer, Chairman of MachineSense, the manufacturer of FeverWarn.

While 3D printing has become commonplace in industries such as footwear and dentistry, the challenge for most manufacturers trying to adopt additive manufacturing remains figuring out the optimal 3D printing methodology. “We have helped numerous manufacturers navigate their entry into 3D printing and helping FeverWarn take their product to market in record time in the middle of the pandemic was especially gratifying. In my career, I have never designed, developed and launched a product this fast to market. We were faced with numerous challenges, and with traditional supply chains being compromised we had to innovative outside the box. We started conversations with the FeverWarn team at the end of March, and by first week of April we were jamming on the design and building a full product lifecycle. FeverWarn started shipping units on May 20th. That’s incredible, and we are just getting warmed up!”  said Alan Guyan the CEO and Co-Founder of Additive Accelerator.

Additive manufacturing (AM)—the application of 3D printing—has been around for a while, but now it is finally being adopted for applications at scale. Almost every industry is undertaking 3D printing to revolutionize manufacturing. However, identifying the correct Additive Manufacturing – 3-D Printing process to build end use product application solutions for global scalability remains a challenge.
