Announcing 2016 Cherry Blossom Photo Safaris

Industry: Travel & Leisure

Learn photography while you tour the cherry blossom trees of DC!

Washington DC (PRUnderground) March 10th, 2016

Following the motto “See. Click. Learn.”, Washington Photo Safari (WPS) will once again be conducting daily photo training safaris around the Tidal Basin during the 2016 National Cherry Blossom Festival. As an official National Cherry Blossom Festival tour provider, WPS will offer 72 cherry blossom photo workshops led by Paris-trained professional architectural photographer and WPS director, E. David Luria. Luria will be proving hands-on guidance to participants in composition, exposure, lighting, and travel photography all while touring the cherry blossom trees. The National Cherry Blossom Festival is the nation’s greatest springtime celebration.

The 2016 Festival (March 20-April 17) includes three spectacular weeks and four weekends of events featuring diverse and creative programming promoting traditional and contemporary arts and culture, natural beauty, and community spirit.

Starting on March 17th, WPS will offer daily “Afternoon Cherry Blossoms” safaris. The safaris will start at the FDR Memorial, proceeding counter-clockwise around the Tidal Basin to end at the Jefferson Memorial. Photographers will have the opportunity catch the soft afternoon sun shining on the cherry blossom trees as they frame the monuments and memorials.

For early risers who want to capture the beautiful golden light of dawn on the blossoms, WPS will also offer “Cherry Blossoms At Sunrise” safaris. These safaris will begin at the paddleboat rental station and proceed clockwise around the Tidal Basin so that the early morning sun will be behind the participants and shining on the Jefferson Memorial. It’s the perfect time to capture postcard-worthy shots of the cherry blossom trees.

In addition to afternoon and morning safaris, WPS will be offering four special safaris: “Cherry Blossoms by Circulator Bus”; “Cherry Blossoms By Pedicab” in which participants will pedicab around the beautiful cherry trees on Hains Point; “Cherry Blossoms Fireworks” that will teach participants how to photograph fireworks; “City In Bloom: An Architectural Safari” in which participants photograph buildings illuminated in pink along Pennsylvania Avenue at night.

For more information, please see the WPS website calendar for a full description of safaris, times and fees: www.WashingtonPhotoSafari.com.
