Apex Self Storage Staff Raise Money for Charity by Completing Manchester Race for Life

Team Apex smashed their target of £500 on Sunday 17^th July 2016, completing the Manchester Race for Life at Heaton Park. Following months of training, the staff from Apex self-storage, Manchester completed the race, raising (so far) a fantastic £1,100 in online contributions alone, with further donations still to be collected!

Starting in 1994, Race for Life has now been going an impressive 22 years, with additional venues being consistently added and fund raising increasing year on year. Race for Life has given many people the opportunity to feel they are ‘doing their bit’ in the fight against the disease. Indeed, one of the things that many family members and friends agree on, is the helplessness they feel when supporting their loved one through their fight against Cancer.

Race for Life gives women (and boys up to the age of 12) the chance to raise money, contributing towards fundraising for Cancer Research. Team Apex consisted of staff from the companies Head Office, Ardwick, Eastlands, Cheadle, Glossop, Congleton and Hulme sites. Including – Carrol, Julie, Jo, Marie, Terri, Catherine, Kirsty, Carol, Beckie, Michelle, Lisa and her baby –  Isabella, aged 1 month and 3 days!

The fastest team member came in at under 40 minutes, the slowest at 1hr and 40 minutes. However, as with all Race for Life events, the emphasis is on a fun, family orientated atmosphere and not on how quickly you complete your run. One of the more moving aspects of the event comes from reading the messages on the back of the runner’s t-shirts. Many people take part in memory of a loved one who has either passed away or, someone who is in the middle of their own particular battle against Cancer.
