Bruce R. Ellig, Former Worldwide Head of Human Resources for Pfizer and experienced author, has recently been inducted into the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) Hall of Fame.

Bruce R. Ellig, Former Worldwide Head of Human Resources for Pfizer and experienced author, has recently been inducted into the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) Hall of Fame.

Being selected by the International Association of Top Professionals is an esteemed honor, as only 20 IAOTP members are inducted into the exclusive Hall of Fame. These special honorees are distinguished by their contributions to society,  longevity in their fields, and the impact they have had on their industries.

Mr. Ellig was honored at IAOTP’s 2019 Annual Awards Gala held at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, earning the Lifetime Achievement Award. At this year’s Annual Awards Gala, he will be honored at the iconic Plaza Hotel in New York City for his exclusive induction into the Hall of Fame. Originally from Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Mr. Ellig earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration at the University of Wisconsin, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami, stated “Choosing Mr. Ellig for this honor was an easy decision for our panel to make.  His list of past accomplishments and accolades are quite impressive. Mr. Ellig started as a personnel assistant and worked his way up to serving as a former worldwide head of human resources for one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, Pfizer.  Serving that company for over three decades, Mr. Ellig has undoubtedly proven himself an expert in the field.  A dynamic, results-driven leader, Mr. Ellig has demonstrated success in every position held at Pfizer.  His impressive repertoire of prior roles has included Vice President of Compensation and Benefits, Vice President of Employee Relations and Personnel, and Vice President of Employee Resources reporting to the Company’s Chairman and CEO.  Mr. Ellig was also Secretary to the Board of Directors Executive Compensation Committee. He was Board Chairman with the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), and he is an elected fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources. Other boards include the Dean’s Advisory Board for the School of Business at the University of Wisconsin for the Global Remuneration Organization and the Kentucky Educational TV.

Throughout his impressive career, Bruce has received many awards and been recognized worldwide for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. In 2019 he graced the front cover of TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine and received the Lifetime Achievement Award by IAOTP.  In 2018 he was selected as Top HR Executive of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals. In 2017, he was recognized by Marquis Who’s Who as an industry leader and awarded the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. He received the Distinguished Business Alumnus Award from the University of Wisconsin’s School of Business in 2004 and 2007.  He founded the Bruce R. Ellig Distinguished Chair in Pay and Organizational Effectiveness in the Business School at the University of Wisconsin and the Bruce R. Ellig Management Professorship in Management. He also established the Bruce R. Ellig Scholarship Fund for Business School students. Bruce has been featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the East, and Who’s Who in the World.

Aside from his successful career in Human Resources, Bruce is a speaker and author of over ten books. His most recent titles include “American History Impact on Employee Pay and Benefits” 3rd edition, and “The Complete Guide to Executive Compensation” 3rd edition. The 4th edition, published by McGraw Hill, will be released at the end of 2021. Bruce has served on the advisory board for the journal of Compensation and Benefits for over a decade, authored and co-authored more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals, and participated in more than 400 presentations.  Bruce has also frequently appeared on TV and on Radio.

Looking back, Bruce attributes his success to his education, mentors he had along the way, and staying passionate about his endeavors. He looks forward to continuing to fund student scholarships at the University of Wisconsin. Now retired Bruce and his wife Janice enjoy their Florida house and New York apartment, and traveling the world, having visited 150 countries together.  His wife had a successful corporate career and now is CEO of the Ellig Group, an executive search firm.  Bruce considers Janice his best friend and soul mate. He has a bucket list and has done almost all the items on the list. He continues to be an avid reader of several hundred books per year.
