Industry: Healthcare

On Saturday, December 2, 2017, CAN will host its annual AIDS Walk to raise awareness and funds for HIV and AIDS.

Sarasota, Florida (PRUnderground) November 14th, 2017

More than 1,000 people are expected to participate in the 11th annual Sarasota-Manatee AIDS Walk on December 2, 2017 to raise awareness and funds for people living with HIV and AIDS. In particular, this year’s walk will celebrate the many people in the Florida area and beyond who have fought and continue to fight the spread of HIV.

The AIDS Walk will begin in the beautiful J.D Hamel Park in downtown Sarasota, continue over the Ringling Bridge, and lead back to the park for shared testimonials, free food, and raffle prizes.  It will begin at 8:00 AM, end at 11:00 AM, and cost only $10 to participate! Walkers can register through 11:59 PM on November 27, 2017 at www.cccsrq.org/ or https://runsignup.com.

In addition to testimonials, food, and raffles, the Community AIDS Network (CAN) will be providing Rapid HIV tests and education about living with HIV and AIDS. School teams, local businesses, families, and even friendly dogs are all invited to participate in this important community event.

The Community AIDS Network has served the needs of the HIV/AIDS community in Sarasota, surrounding counties, and the entire state of Florida for more than 25 years. CAN seeks to create hope and healing for the HIV/AIDS community, combat the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS, increase knowledge and prevention, remove obstacles to care, and continue essential HIV/AIDS research. Overall, CAN’s mission is “to provide a continuum of medical, social, and education services essential to the health and well being” of those living with HIV/AIDS.

CAN is supported by its clinical arm, the Comprehensive Care Center. The CCC is devoted to the treatment, care, and continual wellness of people living with HIV/AIDS. Sarasota’s CCC headquarters clinic offers medical, dental, psychological and lifestyle counseling to all patients, regardless of their financial situation, insurance status, or ability to pay.

The Community AIDS Network and the Comprehensive Care Center are proud to provide those in the HIV/AIDS community with all of the resources they need and to help raise awareness and understanding among others. The AIDS Walk Sarasota-Manatee 2017 is an important step in this direction.
