ESL Joins American Chemistry Council, Affirming Commitment to Safety and Sustainability

Industry: Manufacturing

Arkansas-based manufacturer of environmentally-friendly water treatment products and agricultural nutrients joins national organization dedicated to worker safety, communication and advocacy.

Bentonville, AR (PRUnderground) April 23rd, 2019

Earth Science Laboratories has joined the American Chemistry Council (ACC) a national organization representing a diverse set of companies engaged in the business of chemistry. ACC provides its members with compliance and regulatory guidance and an advocacy voice on the local and national levels, as well as tools such as Responsible Care®, the chemical industry’s global environmental, health, safety and security performance initiative.

As an ACC member, ESL is required to participate in the Responsible Care initiative and to maintain open and transparent reporting practices. Through Responsible Care, the chemical industry commits to practices that work to improve worker and plant safety, reduce hazardous releases and extend safe management of chemicals throughout distribution chains. As part of the Responsible Care open and transparent reporting requirement, ESL will undergo mandatory audits of its headquarters in Arkansas and its plant in Nebraska.

“Participating in the Responsible Care initiative is really a natural extension of what we’ve been doing all along at ESL,” said CEO, David Nicholas. “We are dedicated to developing processes and products that provide clean water and healthier agriculture for the planet. Membership in the ACC adds a layer of public accountability that will be critical to preserving these commitments as we move forward.”

Nicholas added that the ACC’s advocacy services can benefit ESL in the large and complex regulatory system. “When people think of chemical companies they usually think of big players. That’s not us. The ACC helps smaller companies like ESL to stay compliant and competitive.”

ACC President and CEO, Cal Dooley, highlighted the alignment of the ACC’s purpose and ESL’s mission in his welcoming statement: “The need for clean, accessible water is as important as ever to meet the needs of an ever-growing population. Our shared goals and commitment to quality, health, safety and sustainability make Earth Science Laboratories a welcome addition to the ACC’s membership. We look forward to advancing our industry’s policy priorities together.”
