Digital Health Consortium Seeks Innovative Startups in Effort to Catalyze Change in Digital Healthcare Delivery
The HITLAB Breakthrough Alliance (BTA), a digital health consortium which was created to accelerate a greater number of innovations to improve health outcomes and care delivery through verified emerging technologies, announced its Fall 2021 ‘Call for Applications’ to identify digital health solutions that address gaps in healthcare.
Applicants will have until November 19th, 2021 to complete and submit the two-part application process. Up to three solutions will be selected and announced during HITLAB’s Innovator Summit on December 2nd. While applications for all broad digital innovations will be considered, preference will be given to those that focus on the diagnosis and/or treatment of cancer.
All qualifying submissions will be evaluated by the BTA Board members using a number of different criteria including:
– The innovativeness of the approach in terms of addressing the issue
– Project and business risk including realism of market size estimations, extent to which it impacts health care needs and feasibility of team to support based on business plan
– Business reputation, including the extent and quality of media and marketing collateral
The three winning solutions will be evaluated in rapid-cycle studies with end-users, providing key validation data and actionable insights on concept, design, feasibility and market potential. Additionally, selected winners will receive a limited trial of HITLAB’s Connect 360, a networking service, which provides opportunities to create at least three strategic relationships with industry leaders. The winners will also have a chance to present at HITLAB’s symposia. There is zero cost to apply and/or participate and zero equity by HITLAB.
“The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of digital strategy initiatives for healthcare organizations and increased the need for innovative processes and solutions,” says Stan Kachnowki, Chair of HITLAB and Director Digital Health Program, Columbia Business School. “Today’s startups are in a very interesting position, he continued. While digital health has become the norm in the industry, the area still remains largely untapped. There is a huge opportunity to identify and bring to market new solutions and services to improve health.”
