Mosaic Black Partners with Diversity Conference for Pitch Competition

Roman Valdez of Mosaic Black will moderate and judge Southern California startups at the WRDC Pitch Competition. Over $20,000 in funding will be up for grabs.

Mosaic Black officially announced their partnership today with the upcoming Western Regional Diversity Conference (WRDC) and their Pitch Competition, taking place this October 26th in Escondido at the California Center for the Arts. Roman Valdez, Senior Partner of Mosaic Black will be leading the festivities for the upstart conference, moderating and judging for the dozen or so Southern California startups that will be competing for a chance to win up to $20,000 in funding and support from conference sponsors.
“I feel pretty excited to be a part of such an vibrant and new organization like the WRDC” says Roman Valdez. “Diversity is such a buzzword this day and age, but for this pitch competition to add that component to really encourage action and change, it’s huge! It’s a really great idea. I know me and the panel are looking forward to the competition!”
The pitch competition will begin with opening remarks from Ashok Kamal, Executive Director of Tech Cost San Diego. The panel of judges also include Scott Brovsky, Executive Director of InSoCal Connect, Stephanie Ardrey, CEO of Ardrey Group Global, Tech Coast Angels Board Member Tim Rout, and Taj Ahmad Eldridge, Partner of Babylon Ventures and Director for ExCITE Riverside Accelerator at the University of California, Riverside.
Besides duties as Senior Partner with Mosaic Black, Roman Valdez has been active in the startup community for over ten years, including mentoring students at his alma mater of Cal State Fullerton and their Startup Incubator in Placentia, CA. He has also helped launch brands in the wine and spirits and food industries, and consults celebrity driven brands in Hollywood.
The Western Regional Diversity Conference is open for all motivated minds. College students, recent graduates, and young professionals are encouraged to attend. Conference includes over 25 panels and workshops, networking opportunities, and a myriad of guest speakers addressing diversity and inclusion in various fields of business.
