Norco (PRUnderground) August 17th, 2016

Marking the beginning of a new Inland Empire tradition, thousands of community members will join together at SilverLakes, a 130 acre premiere soccer, equestrian, event, and entertainment facility located in the City of Norco, for the first annual Hot Tamale Festival on September 24, 2016 from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. This day of festivities will feature live bands, a dance contest, best tamale contest, pony rides, tamale eating games, petting zoo, a kids zone, and even the hand jive! All are invited to this free community event.

“We are so pleased to bring this dynamic community event to area residents. This annual festival is just a taste of what we have planned for our community at SilverLakes. At the core of our mission is to provide needed recreation and entertainment space to the growing communities in and around Norco,” said R.J. Brandes, President, SilverLakes.

SL Logo 2.pngThe highlight of the day will be a tamale contest judged by an esteemed panel of tamale experts – Mayor Jason Scott of Corona, Mayor Ike Bootsma of Eastvale, Mayor Kevin Bash of Norco, and Councilman Frank Johnston of Jurupa Valley.  Also, as a special feature, past Mayor Kathy Azavedo will serve as DJ for the event!  Entertainment will also include a mariachi and rock-n-roll band.

“It is wonderful to have the opportunity to join with my colleagues from the area to pick the best tamale our local chefs have to offer. I am sure the competition will be fierce, given the amazing chefs represented. I am also looking forward to enjoying a day of family fun at our newest community gathering place, SilverLakes,” said Mayor Bash.

Entrance to the Hot Tamale Festival is FREE ($8.00 for parking). Sponsors include: So Cal Industries, Sysco, Dos Equis, Valley Fencing and Tony’s Hay and Grain.
