When your surname is synonymous with one of the most revered forebears of seminal Southern Rock as well as archetypical Americana, it’s incumbent on you to honor that legacy and the music on which it was built. It’s little wonder then that Devon Allman, son of the late Gregg Allman and an accomplished singer, songwriter and guitarist in his own right, should opt to launch a new band along with a series of high profile performances, the latest chapters in an already storied solo career.

Devon Allman, the former lynchpin behind such bands as the Royal Southern Brotherhood and Honeytribe, has assembled The Devon Allman Project. Rounding out the six-piece band are Hammond B3 keyboardist/multi-instrumentalist/vocalist R.Scott Bryan (Sheryl Crow Band), bassist Justin Corgan (cousin of Smashing Pumpkins Billy Corgan), lead guitarist Jackson Stokes, drummer John Lum and vocalist Nicolas David (The Voice.) The band will make their debut at The Fillmore, a room resonant with Allman Brothers mojo. The show also happens to fall on what would have been Gregg Allman’s 70th birthday. In honor of Mr. Allman’s birthday, a portion of the evening will include a unique and memorable tribute.

At date of press, the line-up of confirmed artists for the December 8th show includes G. Love (G. Love & Special Sauce), Bobby Whitlock (Derek & The Dominoes), Coco Carmel, Alex Orbison (son of Roy Orbison). Brooklyn Allman (daughter of Gregg Allman), Berry Oakley Jr.(son of Allman Brothers bassist & founding member Berry Oakley), Ben Sparaco, Duane Betts (Great Southern, Dawes), Luther and Cody Dickinson (North Mississippi All-Stars), Samantha Fish, Jimmy Hall (Wet Willie, Jeff Beck, Hank Williams Jr.), Bobby Whitlock (Derek & The Dominos, Dr. John, Rolling Stones) and Peter Levin, musical director and longtime Gregg Allman keyboardist (Blind Boys of Alabama, CSN, Doobie Brothers.)

Devon is coming off a series of prestigious appearances — an all-star tribute to his father and Allman Brothers drummer Butch Trucks at the Allmans’ own Peachfest, a performance with The Gregg Allman Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Laid Back festival in Atlanta. A special celebration at the Grammy Museum in L.A., an emotional return to his father’s hometown, Macon Georgia, where he accepted the key to the city on the elder Allman’s behalf, and an event at the Americana Music Fest featuring Buddy Miller, Joan Osborne, and John Paul White (Civil Wars.) Coming up on January 27th, The Devon Allman Project with special guest Duane Betts and Peter Levin will play immediately prior to Dr. John at the Florida Jazz & Blues Jam in Boca Raton. In March 2018 a full-blown international tour will commence featuring The Devon Allman Project and special guest Duane Betts (on all shows) as well as a couple of other invited guests performing with The Project on a majority of the dates. Each night will feature a set of Duane’s originals, Devon’s originals, Royal Southern Brotherhood and Honeytribe songs culminating in an encore set of Allman Brothers songs with Devon, Duane, and the evening’s guests all participating.

A series of lengthy accomplishments have entitled Devon to take his own place in the Southern Rock pantheon. His remarkable resume spans almost two decades, from his post-millennial breakout with Honeytribe, and the widely revered super group Royal Southern Brotherhood. Devon has also had occasion to jam with the greats such as Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Mr. Les Paul, Keith Urban, Gov’t Mule and Lynyrd Skynyrd just to name a few. Through his run of successful solo albums, “Turquoise” was highly regarded by USA Today, “Turquoise is reflective and soulful” while “Ride or Die” debuted #1 in the Billboard Blues Charts. Devon is also a contributing writer to Guitar Player Magazine as well as serving on the Board of Directors for the National Blues Museum in St. Louis, Missouri.
