New York, NY (PRUnderground) June 10th, 2021

300Magazine is pleased to share the amazing news that the Nova Frontier Film Festival (NFFF) is back this June for its 4th edition. Nova Frontier Film Festival and Lab, The Billie Holiday Theatre, and Laurel Channel TV have teamed up once again to present a new selection of curated films from around the African Diaspora, the Middle East, and Latin America. The Nova Frontier Film Festival 2021 will take place online during Juneteenth weekend, June 17-20, and will be available via Zoom and Facebook Live. The event is free and open to everyone looking for an unforgettable authentic experience.

The 2021 edition of the Nova Frontier Film Festival is focused on the theme “Past, Present, Future Home.” All 16 long- and short-form films presented at the Festival center around the complex and timely issues of economic and social injustice, both globally and locally, promoting diversity and exploring the idea of identity, home, belonging, and the resilience of marginalized voices. Held during Juneteenth weekend, NFFF 2021 will also draw people’s attention to the concepts of Black joy and resistance and highlight the liberation of Black and Brown bodies in the United States.

The Nova Frontier Film Festival 2021 will feature 16 carefully selected films and panel discussions, all free and accessible to the public. The Festival represents a multi-cultural platform designed to fight global injustice through art and to help independent filmmakers and artists from the African Diaspora, the Middle East, and Latin America share their perspectives, truths, and stories with the entire world freely.

Films featured at this year’s edition of the Nova Frontier Film Festival include “An uninvited guest” by Richard B. Pierre (Canada), “Back in the island” by Amanda Valle (Dominican Republic), “My Fortress” by Tatiana Lohmann (Brazil), “Wata” by Ronana MCkenzie and Joy Yamusangie (United Kingdom), “Tattooed” by Jean-Baptiste Dusséaux (France), “Ethereality” by Kantarama Gahigiri (Switzerland/Rwanda), and “El silencio del rio” by Francesca Canepa (Peru), among others.

Noma Dumezweni, a Laurence Olivier Award winner and Tony Award-nominated actress, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the Opening Night of NFFF on June 17. Among other notable guests are the award-winning documentary filmmaker Thomas Allen Harris and the Tony Award-nominated dancer and choreographer Karine Plantadit who will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the Closing Night on June 20.
