Triple Eight Race Engineering has now been using Miller welders for over 10 years to create reliable, repeatable welds for the race cars that they work on. Triple Eight Race Engineering are well known for building the V8 Supercars on the Red Bull Holden Racing Team along with Autobarn Lowndes Racing. They choose to use Miller’s Dynasty and Maxstar range to produce high quality welds that won’t crack under pressure. 93% of the cars are made on site, with quality welds being a crucial part of the process. Jason, crew chief at Triple 8 engineering said “The reason we use Miller is because we’re looking for reliability and repeatability with our welds.”
Welding Industries Australia (WIA) specialist Glenn Callinan stated “Reliability is key. We supply companies that are involved in defence-type contract work and we find they always come back to the Miller brand because it is reliable and consistent. Likewise, we have a lot of customers in the automotive sector and the features that these welding machines provide allow them to achieve quality weld results, on a consistent basis.”
At Triple Eight Engineering the Dynasty 350 is the main welder being used with some smaller mobile units also used on site. The Dynasty 350 allows for reliability and repeatability when welding parts of the car such as the roll cage, which must have the utmost strength and reliability in the welds.
“Every component used to build these machines internally is of the highest quality,” says Glenn. “That’s why the machines themselves produce such quality weld results and have a reputation among those who use them for being reliable and consistent.”
The welders are also high in features. “Basically, if you’re looking for a certain a feature, it’s likely the Miller product will have it,” says Glenn. “For example, the AC frequency control allows for up to 400 hertz while most competitors will max out at 250 hertz. The AC control has a range of 50 to 99 percent, compared with the range of most competitors which is 35 to 85 per cent. There’s just a much wider range of options and features.”
