1968: Duality To Unity, A Physician’s Emotional Journey Tears Open Wounds Of That Tumultuous Year

Industry: Healthcare

Whether you lived through 1968 or not, this self-help memoir by Dr. John Monaco will put that year in perspective and provide lessons useful in today’s world

Southern United States (PRUnderground) August 9th, 2017

1968: The war in Viet Nam raged on, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Senator Robert Kennedy were assassinated within two months of each other. Racial tensions and violence rocked our nation’s cities, President Lyndon Johnson decided not to run for re-election. There were riots in the streets at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. TV had three network channels. Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In was the big hit on television. The country was torn apart by dualism – left vs. right, pro-war vs. anti-war, Republican vs. Democrat. Rich vs. Poor. White vs. Black. Not unlike the divides that we face today.

Dr. John Monaco was a very impressionable 13 year old in that fateful year. In order to deal with the divide he faced between family and friends, school faculty and parents, even rock music and the standards, his survival strategy was to hide his true emotions on these issues. Unfortunately this strategy did not serve him well as he faced the challenges of his adulthood: failed marriages, raising children, a stressful career as an intensive care pediatrician.

In 1968: DUALITY TO UNITY, A PHYSICIAN’S EMOTIONAL JOURNEY, the author shares with you his journey through the darkness of his emotional paralysis and the havoc it created in his life. Utilizing that Trinity Operating System, an emotional honesty tool he developed, he describes how he achieved spiritual integrity by honestly recognizing and embracing his sense of self. Dr. Monaco welcomes the reader to learn form him, and with him, as he inspires the Emotional Honesty movement with this book. We need these tools now more than ever!
