2021 CarBuzz Electrified Luxury Award Finalists Announced

Industry: Transportation & Logistics

A new category to celebrate cutting-edge tech.

New York, NY (PRUnderground) November 10th, 2021

With a massive influx of new and pricey electrified vehicles in the market, CarBuzz created this new category to highlight the most comfortable hybrids and EVs with the quietest cabins and best on-board tech. As the industry moves towards alternative power sources, this category is likely to become even more hotly contested in the future.

Electrified Luxury

The world is going green, and that means the motoring industry is booming with hybrid and electric vehicles. 2021 marks an exceptional year in this regard, with numerous high-end vehicles launched to serve this segment. The nominees included:

  • Volvo V60 Polestar Engineered

  • Polestar 2

  • Karma GS-6

  • Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid

  • Audi RS e-tron GT

  • BMW i4

  • Rivian R1T

The competition was fierce, but the following finalists made the cut for the 2021 awards:

2022 Audi RS e-tron GT

In some ways, the Audi RS e-tron GT can be seen as a Porsche Taycan that’s been dressed up a little, but CarBuzz believes the Audi comes out on top. Its twin-motor setup makes 590 horsepower and 612 lb-ft of torque, which can also be upped to 637 hp for short bursts. These outputs are sufficient for a 3.1-second sprint to 60 mph.

The RS e-tron GT gets the Grand Tourer treatment as indicated by its name, so while it offers sporty styling and a thrilling drive, it has refinement in spades with a gorgeously crafted interior loaded with features.

2022 BMW i4

The i4 is an unassuming electric car, with an exterior appeal that is almost identical to the standard 4 Series Gran Coupe. The range comprises two models, with the BMW i4 M50’s two electric motors making 536 hp and 586 lb-ft. The 0-60 mph dash is dispatched in 3.7 seconds, which is just a little quicker than the gas M4 in rear-wheel-drive configuration.

Inside, the i4 doesn’t stray from what Bimmer fans are used to, and the cabin is characterized by premium materials and top-notch build quality. The BMW Curved Display is a marvel, and the infotainment setup is excellent.

2022 Rivian R1T

This overachiever features in three categories, changing perceptions about electrified trucks in a big way. The Rivian R1T Truck has four electric motors that produce an incredible 800 hp and 900 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to hustle to the 60 mph mark in under four seconds, as CarBuzz test drivers found. It is superbly kitted out for off-roading too and has an all-electric range of 314 miles. Towing capacity is an impressive 11,000 pounds. The interior is a breath of fresh air too, with natural grain wood accents and vegan leather seats.

Qualifying nominees had to be available for a week-long test drive. Winners will be announced on November 30, 2021. Get more information here: https://carbuzz.com/features/2021-carbuzz-award-finalists-electrified-luxury.
