2021 CarBuzz Save The Planet Award Finalists Announced

Industry: Transportation & Logistics

Saving the planet has never looked this good!

New York, NY (PRUnderground) November 15th, 2021

Striving to create a better world for future generations means alternative sources of energy, and when it comes to cars, the influx of electric and hybrid vehicles shows the commitment of the industry to this idealogy. The CarBuzz Save The Planet Award highlights the technological marvels that seek to cut down on emissions and offer the best in fuel economy, and at the same time have some style and swag.

Save The Planet

The Award will go to the vehicle that is efficient while still being desirable and enjoyable to drive. Nominees that made the cut include:

  • Ford Mustang Mach-E

  • Polestar 2

  • Volkswagen ID.4

  • Toyota Mirai

  • Rivian R1T

CarBuzz presents the finalists in this category for 2021:

2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E

Not what you’d expect when you hear the name ‘Mustang’, the Ford Mustang Mach-E is an electric SUV that is affordable, good-looking, fun to drive, and practical. Outputs range from 266 horsepower to 346 hp on the standard models, while the GT edition has 480 hp to play with – it can get to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

Starting MSRP is $42,895 before taking the federal tax credit into account, and in terms of efficiency, has a driving range between 211 and 305 miles. It boasts a luxurious cabin filled with tech, including a 15.5-inch touchscreen.

2022 Rivian R1T

This year, a pickup has made it into the Save The Planet category. The Rivian R1T was introduced as the all-electric truck that you can drive daily. It also has impressive off-roading prowess – enough to catapult it into the finals of the 2021 CarBuzz Off-Road Warrior category, too. With four electric motors producing 800 hp, the R1T can hit the 60 mph mark in only three seconds.

It doesn’t come cheap, however, with a starting price of $67,500. But for that, you get 300 miles of range and up to 400 miles with the larger battery, futuristic styling, and a luxurious interior.

2021 Volkswagen ID.4

From VW, the latest entry-level electric crossover offers a palatable starting price of only $39,995 (before tax credits). The Volkswagen ID.4 has 201 hp and up to 260 miles of range, although a dual-motor version adds all-wheel drive and a bit more horsepower – 295 hp, to be exact. Opting for this variant drops the range to 249 miles, but at under $45k for the top-spec AWD model, you’re still getting a lot of value for money.

The ID.4 is far from boring, feeling somewhat like a spicy hatchback to drive. Loads of power, communicative steering, and a playful chassis are a wonderful combination.

To qualify, nominees had to be available for a first-drive or test-drive event. Winners will be announced on November 30, 2021. Full article available here: https://carbuzz.com/features/2021-carbuzz-awards-finalists-save-the-planet
