Events in Miami Beach

Summer may have ended, but that doesn’t mean the excitement is cooling down in Miami Beach. October presents a final opportunity for visitors to hit the waters and enjoy the wonderful climate before the holiday season gets underway. From family-friendly park festivals to unique museum exhibits, there’s plenty to see and do in Miami Beach this October. Of course, guests of the Beacon South Beach will be conveniently located right in the middle of all the action.

Italian Film Festival
Regal Cinema South Beach
October 6 – 11

Movie buffs will be in for a real treat at this year’s Italian Film Festival, which celebrates the culture and cinema contributions of Italy. Presented by a local nonprofit group, the event offers a rare chance for cineastes to see Italian films in America. After watching the movies, audience members will be able to vote on their favorite features and performances. Winners will be announced at the closing party on the final day of the festival.
Symmetry of Demolition
Art Deco Museum
Exhibit runs through the end of the year

Miami Beach is known for having some of the most distinctive Art Deco architecture in the world. Prepare to get a new perspective on that urban landscape by viewing “Symmetry of Demolition” at the Art Deco Museum. This striking “photography noir” exhibit, which was created in the 1990s by world-famous artist Cheyco Leidmann, highlights the evolving nature of the Art Deco buildings in Miami Beach. Viewers will see how the crumbling structures of the past have made way for new buildings and modern renovations.

South Beach Seafood Festival

Lummus Park

October 22
From lobster skewers and crab cakes to oysters and shrimp tacos, foodies will find plenty of ways to wet their appetites at the South Beach Seafood Festival. No less than 17 restaurants will be setting up pop-up cafes along the sandy beaches of Lummus Park for this event. Visitors can expect an all-out party atmosphere as more than 30 bar locations will be sprinkled throughout the four-block festival area. While sipping cocktails and munching on seafood treats, attendees can listen to some South Florida bands at the festival main stage.
The Politics of-Isms
The Wolfsonian–FIU
Exhibit runs through the end of the yearThe Wolfsonian certainly doesn’t seem like a typical museum and research center. That’s because this iconic South Beach building was originally a storage facility for the collections of designer Mitchell Wolfson, Jr. After his vast assemblage began taking over the facility, Wolfson purchased the building and made his collection of rare art, books,  and objects available to researchers. These items form the basis for ongoing and temporary exhibits at The Wolfsonian. In anticipation of the upcoming election, the center will feature “The Politics of -Isms,” an installation of historic memorabilia related to U.S. political campaigns of the 1900s.
October 29An October visit to South Florida wouldn’t be complete without a Halloween party. Naturally, the biggest celebration of the holiday weekend will be right on the sands of South Beach. The aptly titled Nightmare on the Beach starts off with a children’s parade during the day. As night befalls, the celebration takes a more adult turn as libations are served to costumed guests in Lummus Park. People watching doesn’t get much better than this.Italian Film Festival 2016
