Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts – Virginia G Piper Theater – Spectacular theatrical-dance performance through art and ritual in which audiences will be transported through regions of Mexico and its richness and wonderment of cultures while honoring the origins of Dia de Los Muertos’ celebration of life, loss, and remembrance, featuring Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company.

Scottsdale Dia de Los Muertos is now an officially recognized collaborative International-Partner with the City of Oaxaca de Juarez & its departments of Culture and Tourism.

LORE Media & Arts and the Old Adobe Mission present the 6th Annual Scottsdale Dia de Los Muertos Art Installation Experience, seven-day interactive walk-thru event celebrating the rich, ancient traditions of Dia de Los Muertos, commonly known as “Day of the Dead” and “Noche de Muertos” a single evening concert evening of music and dance performances with a new  “Fiesta de Muertos y Danza” a single evening performance at The Scottsdale Center for The Performing Arts.

What: The City of Scottsdale’s official Dia de Los Muertos annual tradition returns to Old Town with an expanded art installation walk-through experience on The Old Adobe Mission grounds. See fine-art installations, Mesoamerican inspired sculptures, traditional altars, and experience Noche de Muertos a single evening concert of music and dance performances.

NEW: LORE Media & Arts & Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company accompanied by Nannette Brodie Dance Theatre are presenting a spectacular inaugural performance of dance, music, art, and ancestral ritual at The Scottsdale Center for The Performing Arts.

What Happens:

The 2022 Scottsdale Dia de Los Muertos Art-Installation Experience will be held on the sacred grounds of the Old Adobe Mission with more expanded and elaborate art and altar displays within the mission grounds.

Scottsdale Dia de Los Muertos brings together world-class artists, and the local community to create a vibrant, visually entertaining, larger than life cross cultural experience with an expanded street closure of art & Altars.

Dia de Los Muertos and Mesoamerican inspired murals and fine art panels painted by top tier artists from the valley, Southwest, Los Angeles, Mexico City and Oaxaca de Juarez will be presented this year. Specialized folk-art designers from the City of Oaxaca de Juarez departments of Culture & Art will also present a new series of Scottsdale Community Altars with traditional offerings and collaborative partnerships.

In addition to the 7-day daily “Art Installation Experience” a new 1-day (October 29th) evening concert experience called “Noche de Muertos” will be presented from 6:00pm – 11:00pm. Music and performance presentations from within the valley, Los Angeles, and Oaxaca de Juarez will be featured.  New! will be “Fiesta de Muertos y Danza” Saturday October 22 – 8pm – Scottsdale Center for The Performing Arts.
