Alfa, the blockchain startup that bills itself as a social network for the next generation, this week announced their iOS mobile app is officially live and available for download.

Alfa, the blockchain startup that bills itself as a social network for the next generation, this week announced their iOS mobile app is officially live and available for download.

Alfa is the first social network to not have a newsfeed, curating and aggregating all contents in the form of “stories,” organized by time and location, as well as filtered by channels. It uses a patent-pending user experience that it claims, eliminate worrisome problems that social networks face today such as echo chambers and fake news.

“Running ads is antiquated,” said Tony K. Tran, Founder and Chief Designer of Alfa. “We use an opt-in model, which lets us get rid of the the old-school newsfeed. Ads are disruptive, forcing users to pay attention, whereas the opt-in model is paid attention. With this, users are earners as part of the equation, as opposed to being a product on one side of the fence.” Instead of depending on advertisements, Alfa will use a freemium model that gives users advanced features and functionalities starting at just $0.99 per month.

Alfa has also developed a simple and easy to use utility currency, called Enzo (NZO), to incentivize early adopters of the platform and jumpstart its core monetization model. NZO is a stored-value of “time,” which provides dividend for activities on the platform and a common global baseline income that everyone can have. Using NZO, users will also be able to utilize a faster way to buy, sell, or start a business, right inside the Alfa platform.

“When a person pays for a product, they’re the customer in that equation,” said Tran. “When they get something for free, they are the product. People need to know that there is no way to run ads without selling users’ data to the advertisers. We’re suggesting a new kind of social media experience that doesn’t turn users into a cash crop. Here, users have complete control over their time, data, and social experience.”

Alfa will be invites-only after its beta period, which means that only existing users can invite another user to take part in the platform. Invitations are distributed weekly based on how active a present user has been. Alfa has elected to do this ensure all users in the beginning will be quality, active, and supportive of the blockchain model.

Close to completing an Android and Web-app version towards the end of 2019, Alfa is determined to make their revolutionary concept accessible to as many people as possible.
