Adato Media used the microlearning to deliver courses for students preparing for the high school equivalency diploma exams

New York, NY (PRUnderground) May 1st, 2019

Over the last few years, microlearning has become one of the most bespoken trends in the training industry. And for a good reason, it’s very effective. Corporate learning programs implemented this method with big success.

Adato Media used the same approach to deliver courses for students preparing for the high school equivalency diploma exams. Their free online classes, provided through BestGEDClasses website, are based on the microlearning concept.

“Since we incorporated the microlearning concept in our online classes, the effectiveness of learning increased,” says Steve Gory, EdTech expert at BestGEDclasse.org.

The optimal length of our video lessons is up to 2 minutes. On average, 85% of the viewers finish watching a lesson as opposed to only 45% when we use 4 minute-long videos.

Students retain 95% of a message when they watch it in a video compared to 10% when reading it in text. Bestgedclasses noticed that quizzes under video lessons have a 95% higher level of correct answers than lessons with only text.

The microlearning method uses short moments of learning to drive better performance and development. It works for everyone but especially for millennials because it’s the first training method created by and for 21st-century learners.

The reason is that messages with a short content speak better to easy-distracted learners and millennials did elevate distraction as a sort of art form. They are expecting to receive any sort of information in small chunks, not in large bundles.

Microlearning delivers information in small portions that take only a tiny bit of their time and attention span. This is helping them to apply what they’ve learned in real time so they won’t forget the information.

Microlearning is also the most effective way to learn on mobile devices.

Adato media specializes in online courses for students who want to earn their high school equivalency diplomas. Currently, there are three high school equivalency tests available in the US, GED (General Education Development), HiSET (High School Equivalency Test), and TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Development).

The high school equivalency diploma is of the same value as a common high school diploma and qualifies students to go to college or take online degree courses.

To qualify to take any of these high school equivalency exams, students have to be at least a 16-year-old in most states and must be officially withdrawn from high school.

Even though a high school equivalency diploma is recognized by the majority of colleges, organizations, and employers there may be situations later in life that a high school diploma could be preferred.

Some parts of the military prefer a high school diploma over a high school equivalency diploma but, as said before, generally the credentials are regarded as equivalent.

High school equivalency tests aren’t that easy; students need to be well-prepared. Therefore, online classes are increasingly popular and online classes that use the concept of microlearning are the most effective.
