AKA KLAYE to release new track: Rollin’
AKA Klaye is set to release his brand new track, Rollin’, on the 20th May on all digital platforms, including Spotify, Tidal and Deezer. The track is an amalgamation of slow tempo hip hop and jumpy reggae beats that give off a laid back yet positive vibe that makes it a treat to jam to this summer. The video is a reflection of the young British urban music culture that’s so close to AKA Klaye’s roots, with smokey shots of popular high-end fashion brands like Net-a-Porter and Supreme, merging fashion with romance and colourful studio lights to create artsy visuals that complement AKA Klaye’s personal style perfectly.

AKA Klaye is a singer-songwriter raised in the inner city of London, UK and has dreamed of being a successful musician since childhood. In order to kickstart his music career, AKA Klaye invested his university loan on day-trading forex financial markets, ultimately creating a successful portfolio to self-fund his ambitions, surpassing everything that he envisioned as a child. AKA Klaye’s impressive ‘hustle’ is reflected in his rap lyrics, complemented by his merging of dancehall beats with rap music and reggae to create his own unique and highly personal sound. BBC Radio 1 DJ and successful British music producer, Toddla T, even gave AKA Klaye a shoutout on Radio 1’s dance beats show, Soundsystems, praising his “absolute fire authentic UK vibe”.

AKA Klaye’s ‘Rollin’ video is a reflection of the urban street gang culture prevalent in central London, with shots of young men in streetwear atop motorbikes with intermittent shots of AKA Klaye smoking in a dim basement. The beautiful woman at the centre of the video is highlighted by the occasional blast of colourful studio lights, creating an almost dream-like atmosphere reflected in AKA Klaye’s song lyrics. The rising star raps and sings about working hard every day only to be distracted by one thing: love.

Since dancehall music hit the UK from Jamaica in the 1980s, it has transformed into an utterly unique amalgamation of sounds and cultures. The diversity of the musical approach and style of those in the UK dancehall scene has helped the genre to work its way up in the charts to become widely recognisable, attracting young artists from all over the UK to mix the genre with trap music, hip hop and rap to create art that represents their own culture.
