California artist Kat Fox is serving faux fur in Laguna Beach’s First Thursday Artwalk on August 4, 2022. And yes, there’s free wine.
A resident artist at The Grace Galleries on PCH just behind Main Beach, Kat is pleased to join 22 extremely talented artists at the eclectic meets modern, kinda funky and definitely hip gallery. Do you need a giant fuzzy frame with lacquered stuffed animal art that is bigger than your wingspan and takes up an entire wall? Of course you do, and you can find it at The Grace Galleries (courtesy of Kat). A cubist-inspired seahorse? Iridescent photography reminiscent of seashells? A decadently delicious scarlet-hued glossy painting that puts the Red Wedding to shame? Yes, yes, and more yes.
New gallery manager Jamie Lawrence (and new owner Genco!) welcome guests to explore, take in the beach air, the tunes, and of course free wine for this month’s Artwalk. A staple in Laguna Beach since 1998, the Artwalk draws visitors from Southern California and beyond to chill out, mingle and maybe take home a little (or gigantic) treasure, whatever the case may be.
Kat’s piece, Surrounded by Animals, is part of her larger series Gals n Dolls, which has shown both domestically and internationally. She’s a photographer and digital artist based in Palm Springs whose vividly whimsical pieces are more pop art than traditional photograph. Inspired by fairy tales and an outsized inner child, Surrounded by Animals invites the viewer to allow themselves to continue to explore and play well into adulthood. Imagination, creativity and a sense of wonder are critical, especially when things feel heavy. So lighten up and come join us at the beach!
