ATOPALM, K-Beauty’s leading skincare brand dedicated to developing and marketing innovative, affordable clinic-level skincare at home has developed several lines to care for the eight main common types of conditions to which skin can be prone. ATOPALM’s two main skincare lines, MLE and Real Barrier all formulated with ATOPALM’s patented ceramide bio-identical skin barrier formula (MLE) combine the MLE with a host of other potent skincare ingredients tailored to a person’s skincare needs, to help restore skin’s smooth appearance and health.

ATOPALM.com defines the eight prone skin types as:

  • AGED SKIN PRONE – As skin ages, the skin barrier is weakened from lengthy exposure to the sun. harsh elements, and environmental toxins. This results in a high rate of moisture loss from skin, leading to the appearance of fine lines and to a rougher, dryer skin texture.
  • BLEMISH PRONE – Skin tends to be oily and prone to breakouts of acne. Blemish-prone skin can also become dry in areas when treated with harsh products intended to dry out excess oil.
  • DRY PRONE – Similar to aging skin, though younger skin can be prone to dryness as well due to hormonal changes as well as overexposure to harsh environments as well as indoor heat and cold throughout winter and summer. Makes skin appear prematurely older due to flaking and dull appearance as well as fine lines from moisture loss.
  • HORMONAL PRONE – Hormone levels fluctuate at different stages of life, affecting the skin’s sebum production level, resulting in oily skin, dry skin and some combination of the two. Like blemish prone skin, hormonal prone skin needs special care to reduce oiliness without stripping it of much-needed hydration.
  • HYPERSENSITIVE (EXTREMELY SENSITIVE) PRONE – Skin that is highly prone to redness and inflammation. While there are many possible causes, a common factor is that the skin barrier has been weakened, making the skin less able to fight off harsh environmental conditions, such as exposure to the sun’s rays or environmental toxins. Hypersensitive skin needs intense hydration in addition to skin barrier strengthening.
  • RED, ITCHY, SCALY PRONE – Dermatitis  is a general medical term that describes various skin conditions that cause itching, blisters, redness, swelling, and often oozing, scabbing and scaling. Several skin disorders are named ‘dermatitis’, including atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis and nummular dermatitis, and all exhibit inflammatory symptoms.
  • OILY/COMBINATION PRONE – Rather than not needing moisture, oily/combination skin may need moisture more than most other skin types! You see, your oily/combination skin may be caused by your skin’s inability to create and maintain healthy moisture levels. To compensate, the skin creates more oil, which leads to an oil imbalance. By just keeping your skin’s moisture levels up and lipid layer supported with ATOPALM skin care, your skin can balance its own oil production, leading to a healthier complexion.
  • RED, OVERHEATED, INFLAMED PRONE – It is a skin condition characterized by areas of redness, and sometimes swelling or pimples. It is a common – affecting an estimated 16 million Americans alone. The redness that rosacea is known for is caused by swollen blood vessels located just beneath the surface of the skin. It is sometimes, though not always, associated with other disorders, including acne, dandruff, corneal ulcers, and blepharitis (eyelid inflammation). This skin type needs calming for the inflammation as well as skin barrier strengthening to help skin defend itself from the environmental factors that can cause irritation.

While there is some overlap between certain skin categories, there are also unique symptoms with each prone skin type and ATOPALM has developed the formulations and daily skincare routine for optimal care of each skin type with a dedicated page of information and how to care for it.
