One of the most visited of these sites is the Swan House…

Swan House at Atlanta History Center

Everything you’ve ever known going up in flames faster than a bonfire with too much lighter fluid.

Photos, art, and family heirlooms al lost forever.

Losing a home to a fire is always devastating. But don’t feel too bad for the Inmans. Their family home burned down in 1924 but they were too quick to have a new home drawn straight from the minds of some of the best architects of the time.

Their new home has been in the same spot on the northern side of Atlanta since 1928.

The theme of this new mansion fit for an American king? Swans, of course.

The entire estate is dotted with sculptures and artwork of the owner’s favorite water foul.

Georgian native and revered architect Phillip T. Shutze designed every aspect of the home. He was well known for his collection of some the finest porcelain, furniture, and rugs.

His entire collection is still on display for visitors of the Swan House. Open to the public, the house is kept in pristine condition and hosts visitors from all over the world.

Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park

Walking down the pews of Ebenezer Baptist Church puts you right in the shoes of Martin Luther King Jr. and his father every time they walked down the aisle to lead a sermon.

Together with his birth home, the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park is where some of the biggest changes in America started.

MLK was baptized in the same church. His entire life unfolded in these two buildings. The 35-acre park’s visitor center hosts a museum dedicated to the civil rights movement.

You can take a stroll through the international “I have a dream” rose garden after visiting the museum.

The park is a common stop for many leaders, educators, and even celebrities to speak at during annual events celebrating the life of MLK.

Fernbank Museum of Natural History

You look up at the skeleton of a 123-foot monster. We’re lucky we weren’t around until the last Argentinosaurus had been dead for millions of years.

The Fernbank Museum of Natural History houses the remains of some of the biggest dinosaurs ever discovered.

A young Emily Harrison used to play with her friends for hours in the land east of downtown Atlanta.

The kids started calling the are Fernbank and the name stuck. When she was old enough she drafted a charter for the 70-acres of land the museum now sits on.

The building finished construction in 1992 and now sits on the largest old-growth forest in the country.
