The time and work put into sorting the garbage out cuts into the profits from the recycling program. Republic is working with the city of Jacksonville on how to address the added costs. Taxpayers may be expected to foot the bill.

Residents may feel they’re doing the right thing by putting an item in the recycle bin if they’re not sure if it can be recycled. But a whole batch can be ruined by a trash item.
