Industry: Education

In addition to providing students with the best costs in course materials, all students no matter their location, have access to everything they need to be successful!

Pendleton, OR (PRUnderground) January 17th, 2023

Blue Mountain Community College (BMCC) serves Eastern Oregon and offers residents of Umatilla, Morrow, and Baker Counties an opportunity to pursue Associate’s degrees and certificates at their main campus, one of their many student centers, or through distance learning options. They recently launched their online bookstore through a partnership with Akademos to support the Fall 2022 quarter.

The online bookstore now offers a customized student experience that eliminates the need to search for courses and required materials and textbooks by automatically showcasing the students’ course information and the adoptions made by their instructors. Using single-sign-on technology, students are not required to create an account but can log in using their school credentials.

Along with the launch of the online bookstore, BMCC also introduced a deferred payment option for students to utilize toward course materials. Every student enrolled at BMCC will be given a voucher of $250 per quarter that can be used toward purchases through the online bookstore, allowing students to purchase their course materials as early as possible.

“Our students’ success is our top priority at BMCC,” said Mark Browning, President at BMCC. “Offering them an increased variety of options between new, used, and digital textbooks and the ability to easily access the BMCC store online were two major benefits. The deferred payment option that gives students the ability to purchase course materials before their financial aid funds come through has made a hugely positive impact for so many of our students and we’re looking forward to continued success with the program.”

Along with the ability to purchase textbooks and course materials, students can also purchase branded merchandise through the BMCC online bookstore. Items that showcase the Timberwolves mascot include hooded sweatshirts, t-shirts, tumblers, tank tops, water bottles, and more. The bookstore also has school supplies like notebooks, pens, and calculators available for purchase by students.

Akademos CEO, Raj Kaji said, “We are always excited when we’re able to customize our partnerships to match the needs of the school and their students. With Blue Mountain Community College, we developed a payment solution that allows students to acquire their course materials and reduces financial barriers at the start of the semester.”
