Richard III is part of the final season of large scale transatlantic theatre pieces from the Bridge Project, a joint venture by the Old Vic, Bam and Neal Street.
Sam Mendes is known for both his work in the movie industry and his theatre credentials. He was the founder and Artistic Director of the Donmar Warehouse and has previously directed theatre productions in the West End and on Broadway.
He has directed ‘Road to Perdition’, ‘Revolutionary Road’ and is set to direct the 23rd Bond movie.
Kevin Spacey is also no stranger to the stage; he is the artistic director for the Old Vic and has previously appeared in ‘Richard II’, ‘Speed-the-Plow’, ‘A Moon for the Misbegotten’ and ‘Inherit the Wind’.
This production will be the first time Mendes and Spacey have reunited since the 1999 BAFTA and Academy Award winning movie, ‘American Beauty’.
The rest of the cast will be made up from leading British and American actors including Maureen Anderman, Stephen Lee Anderson and Jeremy Bobb.
