The West End is not only home to top shows and musicals like Mamma Mia! And We will rock you, but has many new plays and shows opening each month. May is another fantastic month for West End openings, take a look at these shows that you can see as part of Hotel Direct’s London theatre breaks.

Step 9 of (12) – Opening at Trafalgar Studio Two on May 4th, this highly anticipated production from Rob Hayes sees the familiar face of Blake Harrison from the Inbetweeners take the West End stage for the first time. The play is about an alcoholic called Keith who is looking back at his past and the people he has hurt.

Top Hat – Get a taste of the days of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers with the classic musical Top Hat, 77 years after it hit the silver screens. The production received rave reviews on its tour before hitting the West End. You can catch it at the Aldwych Theatre from May 9th.

Revolution – Head to the Theatre Royal Haymarket from May 13th to see former Pussycat Dolls’ member Kimberly Wyatt and performer Adam Garcia front a selection of wonderful performers. The dance pieces are said to fast paced and futuristic and a wonderful fusion of commercial dance and choreographic talent.

What the butler saw – Joe Orton’s 1967 comedy is to open at the Vaudeville Theatre from May 16th. This insanely funny show features Omid Djalili and tells the story of psychiatrist Dr Prentice and his attempts at seducing a potential secretary. All hell breaks loose when his wife arrives during a “revealing” interview and the rest of the farce needs to be seen to be believed.

The Sunshine Boys –  Richard Griffiths and Danny DeVito play a retired comedy duo that haven’t spoken in years, but when they are asked to reunite, can they put aside their differences for one last show. Opening at the Savoy Court on May 17th, The Sunshine Boys is another great comedy to see in the West End.
