Calabasas, CA (PRUnderground) July 22nd, 2021

Generational athletes may be few and far between, but once they come on the scene audiences are captivated with their raw talent, unwavering dedication, and incredible discipline. Calabasas High School’s star hurdler and sprinter Bella Witt, made waves throughout her high school career, taking home title after title as the nations finest. As the 2021 Fall Semester rapidly approaches, Bella Witt is proud to announce that she has signed with the University of Georgia, to compete under the leadership of nationally respected coach Caryl Smith-Gilbert.

Formerly committed to the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), Bella reopened her recruitment once her future coach Yvonne Wade announced her retirement from collegiate coaching. After much deliberation and various offers from some of the most prestigious track and field programs in the country, Bella committed to the University of Georgia to compete under the National Coach of the Year. Caryl Smith-Gilbert is arguably one the best hurdle coaches in NCAA track and field and an all-around phenomenal speed coach.

“I chose the University of Georgia because I feel that under the coaching and mentorship of Coach Caryl Smith-Gilbert and her staff myself and the team will be a force to reckon with.  I look forward to making an impact in the NCAA and becoming the best athlete I can be.  I am hungry and excited to get working at UGA.”  – Bella Witt

Throughout Bella’s High School career, she harnessed dozens of titles, competed in countless races, and faced various physical and mental hurdles to rise above the competition to rank #1 for the 100-meter hurdle in California; third in the nation. Joining the Georgia Women’s team in great company with top recruits from across the nation, Bella Witt is set to be a national contender for the ’21-’22 Track and Field Season.

Facing new surroundings, new opportunities, and new challenges, Bella is excited to begin her training with Coach Caryl Smith-Gilbert and represent the University of Georgia over the next four years. Coach Caryl Smith-Gilbert looks to take her hurdle expertise in mentoring Witt into an SEC and National Champion.

“With my retirement from coaching at UNLV I was disappointed that we wouldn’t have the chance to coach Bella but I am so excited for her to grow at UGA under Coach Smith-Gilbert. She will be part of a great program and I look forward to watching her grow as an athlete and wish her all of the success.” – Former Coach of UNLV, Yvonne Wade
