The California Cybersecurity Information Sharing Organization (CalCISO) has partnered with Logical Operations as a CalCISO Education Partner, with the goal of working together to provide certification training for first responders in cybersecurity operations. CalCISO and Logical Operations will collaborate to offer CyberSec First Responder Exam CFR-210 Training in California beginning in 2017.

“Despite the constant headlines about cyber-attacks and the $315 billion a year cost to business, many organizations are failing to take appropriate actions to protect themselves,” said  Matt Gardner, CEO of CalCISO. “This training is intended to give our members and California companies across the state an opportunity to ensure they are prepared for what has unfortunately become an all too common problem of doing business today.

CalCISO’s members cut across industries including finance, retail technology, and infrastructure organizations. These companies share as a high priority the continuous training and development of cybersecurity professionals.

The CyberSec First Responder program is designed to defend against cyber-attacks by teaching students to understand the threat landscape and different attack vectors, design secure computing and network environments, proactively defend networks, analyze and detect active threats, and respond/investigate cybersecurity incidents.

The CyberSec First Responder certification is built to aid formal security incident responders, as well as general IT personnel, with the task of detecting IT live threats and responding in real-time to neutral those threats. Available through an exam administered at PearsonVUE testing centers worldwide, the certification is maintained continuously by Logical Operations’ cybersecurity subject-matter experts and practitioners and is updated multiple times throughout the year to guarantee applicability to the latest security threats.

Questions are presented in multiple formats to ensure a thorough testing of relevant security knowledge. Currently accredited by ProCert, the CyberSec First Responder exam is now moving through the ISO 17024 accreditation process through the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

“Certifications developed by Logical Operations are a natural response to the needs of our end customers around the world. CyberSec First Responder fills a real gap in training and certifications that prepare an IT department to detect and respond to a cyber threat. Our vendor-neutral approach guarantees applicability with any hardware or software platform in use throughout the organization,” said Joe Mignano, VP of Channels for Logical Operations.

CalCISO will offer a free preview of the CyberSec First Responder program at its regular November meeting. The full program will be available in January 2017. The California Technology Council established its Talent Initiative to develop tailored training programs with education partners.

“We established our Talent Initiative to bring together members and find solutions exactly like this,” said CalCISO’s Gardner. “As California companies race to stay ahead of cybercrime and build the next-generation workforce, we are working alongside them to bring the training and resources to help.”
