Industry: Technology

CertNexus has launched the first high-stakes, vendor-neutral certification for professionals concerned with ethics in technology, Certified Ethical Emerging Technologist (CEET).

Rochester, NY (PRUnderground) November 3rd, 2020

CertNexus has launched their latest certification and it’s the first high-stakes, vendor-neutral certification for professionals concerned with ethics in technology. Certified Ethical Emerging Technologist (CEET) certifies that practitioners have the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to apply ethical principles, follow industry standard frameworks, identify and mitigate risks, and navigate ethical organizational governance in order to devise and maintain ethical, trusted, and inclusive data-driven technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and data science.

Deloitte indicates that 75% of organizations say ethics related to the future of work are important or very important for their success over the next 12 to 18 months, but only 14% say they are very ready to address this trend. Leaders need to address these issues within technology and its associated uses of data. Data Ethicists and other professionals responsible for the ethical use of data will need to address how data resulting from emerging technologies such as AI could perpetuate messages within an algorithm and potentially be propagating discrimination or bias.

CEET supports data professionals in the application of recognized global frameworks measured against compliance factors such as regulations to create actionable plans within technology while weighing intended business outcomes. It provides concrete standards, regulations, and best practices based upon ethical concepts and enables practitioners to critically analyze the best way to mitigate risk within the practicalities of a business environment.

“The ethical use of technology is a growing concern as we have seen across industries and society,” said Megan Smith Branch, Chief Product Officer. “With emerging technologies such as AI present in nearly all aspects of modern life, there is ample potential for upskilling and validating skills of the associated workforce – that’s exactly what we do. We aim to make professionals competitive in the realm of emerging tech and offer certifications that no one else can yet provide.”

The CEET certification exam is available globally both in person at Pearson VUE test centers and remotely via their online proctoring platform, OnVUE. Upon the successful completion of the exam, an individual will become a Certified Ethical Emerging Technologist, validating both their knowledge and ability to apply ethics within technology.
