Intermountain Health receives CHIME 2022 Digital Health Most Wired Level 10 Recognition for Excellence in Healthcare Technology Innovation

Salt Lake City, UT (PRUnderground) February 22nd, 2023

Intermountain Health’s hospitals and clinics in Utah has been recognized by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) for achieving it’s Level 10 status in its 2022 Digital Health Most Wired survey.

The Intermountain facilities included in the Most Wired program are certified as levels one through 10, with level 10 being the highest level. Level 10 facilities leverage technology in innovative ways and encourage deep adoption across the entire organization for improved safety, quality of care, patient and caregiver experience, value, and broader patient access to healthcare services.

Intermountain is one of only 19 health systems nationally to achieve level 10 for acute care, and one of only 18 health systems nationally to achieve level 10 for ambulatory care.

The Digital Health Most Wired survey and recognition program serves as a comprehensive “Digital Health Check-up” for healthcare systems across the world.

Among the more than 38,000 organizations surveyed by CHIME, Intermountain Health ranked above peers in categories such as analytics and data management, population health, infrastructure, and patient engagement.

The survey assessed the adoption, integration and impact of technologies in health care organizations at all stages of development, from early development to industry leading.

“It’s the exceptional focus Intermountain has placed on technology, people, and processes. It’s not only what Intermountain is doing, but how they are including front-line caregivers in technology processes that is especially impressive. Their hospital-acquired infections reduction effort, which engaged a cross-disciplinary team – including front-line nurses – really helped simplify their process,” said Adrienne Edens, executive programs advisor at CHIME.

“We are humbled by this recognition as our efforts and investment in technology are aligned with our focus on Intermountain’s core fundamentals of safety, access, quality, stewardship, experience, engaged caregivers, equity, and growth,” said Craig Richardville, Intermountain’s chief digital and information officer.

“Intermountain is clearly a leader in use of technology in healthcare. I’m very pleased with the team’s focus on outcomes and value being achieved,” said Ken Lawoon, senior member of CHIME’s Level 10 Validation Team and former vice president and chief information officer of Sharp Healthcare.

“The Level 10 distinction is a rigorous program that recognizes how Intermountain Health is innovating in healthcare by investing in technologies and making world-class care more accessible, affordable, convenient, and effective,” added Farukh Usmani, MD, medical director, digital technology services, who led the CHIME Level 10 survey and validation efforts at Intermountain.

“We look to continue progressing, innovating, adding value and enhancing patient care and experience, all while improving outcomes through digital transformation. Technology opens doors in healthcare, and when people walk through those doors, it can lead to better health,” added Dr. Usmani.

“I’m very honored that CHIME has recognized the achievements and acceleration of our technology to support caregivers in their efforts to deliver on our mission of helping people live the healthiest lives possible,” said Diego Ize-Ludlow, MD, Intermountain’s chief health information officer.
