Corporate Leasing Associates School Solutions (CLASS), a premier educational finance company, has created a revolutionary lease structure specifically designed for schools. The CLASS Hybrid Lease addresses the most common lease concerns, minimizes costs, and provides schools with the financial safety and stability they desire.
Glenn Lesnick, Vice President, says, “The global COVID-19 pandemic has brought to light how schools are faced with many unexpected costs at lease end. Delays in parts shipments and late laptop returns result in unexpected additional monthly charges. Units returned unrepaired lead to high damage charges and in tight market conditions, buyout prices rise.” He adds that all this proves very costly to schools. Therefore, CLASS has created a lease structure that addresses all these issues while at the same time putting money back into the schools’ pockets.
Currently there are two lease structures on the market available to schools: Fair Market Value, in which schools lease technology equipment and return it at the end of the lease term; and Dollar Buyout, in which the school does not return the equipment and owns it at the end of the lease.
“We’ve created a structure that combines the best of both lease types, while eliminating the worst parts,” Lesnick says. The process is a simple three steps: 1. School pays a fixed monthly payment over the lease term; 2. School then owns the equipment at lease end 3. School returns the equipment to CLASS for remarketing. CLASS then remarkets the equipment for top dollar, utilizing its vast network of buyers. The school receives 88% of the proceeds, and CLASS receives 12%.
“Schools get a check,” Lesnick says, “And the math works out very much in the school’s favor compared to a typical Fair Market Value lease or Dollar Buyout. Once the school understands the significant benefits and savings, they ‘get it’ and are all in.”
Lesnick says, “Thus far our own clients have adopted the CLASS Hybrid Lease at a rate of 100%. When it comes down to it, comparing a Fair Market Value lease to this new Hybrid lease is not really comparing apples to apples. It is comparing apples to a hybrid apple and the hybrid apple is superior.”
