When Dailey Pike aka Soyracha Dragon bought the domain name www.HouseOfTheDragon.com at auction in late October 2019 for over $2400, he was blindsided when a well know cable channel would accuse him in March 2020, four months later, of infringing on a registered trademark (turns out it is not registered only applied for) and cybersquatting (turns out you aren’t if you’re using it).
This even though he’d been using the domain name since he bought it to promote his print and hand painted swimwear. Evidenced by Pike’s booth at the Swim Collective January 2020 Anaheim Convention Center displaying his line.
March 10th, a ferocious two-week Chainmail internet email battle between the parties over the domain took place, then a week later… Coronavirus.
Pike changed gears until the new normal, from using the domain name to offer swimwear for ladies and gents, to sending hot sauces, which he currently sells on https://amazon.com/condimentdysfunction to food banks.
He’s using the hashtag #hotsauce4hunger and encouraging other makers of hot sauce to join him.
Said Pike, “Mark of the Atlanta Community Food Bank https://acfb.org told me that condiments are important to folks when they sit down to eat a meal. Mitt Romney said, ‘Condiments are people too my friend.’ No, I’m kidding about Mitt. Bottom line is people are hungry and that isn’t right.”
10,000 bottles of Pike’s Cal Dragon’s Vinegaroon Texas Hot Sauce, Carmen Soyracha’s Hot Chili Soy Sauce, and the brand he created to benefit food banks, House Of The Dragon Louisiana Red Hot Sauce have been sent to food banks in New York, New Orleans, Denver, and Atlanta.
