Datacenter.com Takes the Next Step Forward With Expansion Power Upgrade in Amsterdam Data Center

Industry: Technology

Amsterdam Data Center recently upgraded to 10MW of Power Capacity by Datacenter.com. This move opens doors to greater win-win business opportunities in the area.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands (PRUnderground) November 16th, 2018

Datacenter.com, recently announced it has completed the first step of the second phase expansion of its flagship data center AMS1 Amsterdam by upgrading the current power availability to 10MW of capacity. The expansion is the company’s second, following the opening of the AMS1 data center in January of this year. The company believes this improvement will go a long way towards “keep the power on” and will significantly remove some of the ongoing worries they have been facing from power outages, over power availability issues.

We were facing a problem with the power availability in Amsterdam and this can lead to much larger headaches,” commented a spokesperson from Datacenter.com. “Completing this job should go a long way towards solving this problem, by making more power available.”

Currently, the shortage of power in Amsterdam can have a very large negative on the community’s work-world. It is acting to disrupt the current data center industry growth, an industry which has enormous power requirements on one hand, but also has many firms who would love to expand into or open their doors in the city on the other, bringing both employment and increased financial opportunities.

By securing the additional 10MW of power Datacenter.com can continue providing colocation services, something vital for the firm. No laughing matter, without improvements, like these, Amsterdam could see the number of businesses who choose their city as a place to operate from either fold up or fade away completely.

Our continued growth in Amsterdam highlights strong demand for a high-quality data center with flexible and high dense colocation possibilities,” commented Jochem Steman, CEO of Datacenter.com.

According to the company, their Datacenter.com Amsterdam AMS1 data center is based in Amsterdam’s business district located in the Southeast of the city. This area features some of the highest fibre densities of any major or minor city across the globe, with 5000 square meters of colocation whitespace. The continued quick growth of Datacenter’s AMS1 data center made it clear the only answer to their challenge was in finding a way to bring in more power, power that is reliable and can be counted on when needed.

Even with the amount of power still extremely limited in the Amsterdam metropolitan area, the upgrade of AMS1’s cabling to 10MW total power by Dutch company Alliender is having a significant positive impact, already. Clients, such as Cloud Service Providers, Enterprises, Media Outlets, and many SMB companies, were already able to use high power cabinets, but now with the new improvement they are positioned to be able to grow even more, with the past shackles related to these issues removed.

Steman, continued, “Our flexible colocation models have really struck an accord with our customers, we’re growing faster than we expected. This extra power is a very welcome addition to our unique, completely neutral, proposal in the Amsterdam market. We are now able to continue the further growth.”

Datacenter.com AMS1 is run in an energy-efficient way, that is respectful to its environment making it able to hold the proud distinction of being 100% green. They pride themselves on delivering low-cost, high-value services to clients.
