Parents who are interested in making tooth brushing even more enjoyable for their children can now take advantage of the first-ever augmented reality toothbrush, created by dental specialist Dr. Kami Hoss and his team of experts at The Super Dentists in Chula Vista.

The augmented reality toothbrush, called The Super Toothbrush, is a new tool that the San Diego dentist is using to transform the oral care experience for children.

According to Dr. Hoss, a leader in the orthodontic field, children have a tendency to engage in tooth brushing more than 70% longer if music is playing while they are brushing. In addition, their brushing time is only 50% of the suggested amount of time if no music is playing.

Fortunately, The Super Toothbrush plays a song for two minutes, which entertains children during tooth brushing while also encouraging them to brush their pearly whites for the recommended two minutes.

Dr. Hoss said the idea for the toothbrush stemmed from his interactions with patients over the years. Many parents asked him for his expert advice regarding motivating their children to brush their teeth. That is when The Super Dentists decided to create a high-quality toothbrush that children would enjoy using.

The dental practice’s goal is to help children to develop positive dental care habits now so that good oral care practices will be second nature for them as they get older.

The Toothbrush’s Augmented Reality Feature

In addition to offering child-friendly music, The Super Toothbrush has the dental practice’s villain and superhero characters on it. These cartoon characters include Molar, Cavitar, The Tooth Keri, and Dr. Have One Super Smile. The brush also features an augmented reality sticker featuring The Tooth Keri, which a child can place on his or her bathroom mirror.

The child, or his or her parent, can then use the dental office’s Vivarra Dental app to make The Tooth Keri come to life on the sticker. This character will then show the child how to properly clean his or her teeth via brushing and flossing. The character will tap into the child’s senses of touch, sight, and sound to bring these important oral care lessons to life on his or her level.

To take advantage of The Super Toothbrush’s augmented reality feature, parents can download Vivarra Dental from Google Play or the App Store. Then, they can simply scan the sticker and let their children experience a magical interactive lesson right before their eyes.

Additional Toothbrush Perks

The Super Toothbrush’s battery is designed to last three months. When the battery dies, this is an indicator that a child should change his or her toothbrush, as the American Dental Association recommends that people replace their brushes every three months.

Parents can purchase the new augmented reality toothbrush at The Super Dentists for $6 for one brush, or $10 for two brushes. These brushes can also be purchased for $11.99 apiece at Amazon.com. A collector’s toothbrush set will also make its debut in October, with mouthwash and toothpaste to follow in the future.
