Bayview Drive Films, a Los Angeles based film production company has released an awe-inspiring and epic new short film: Forward.

In an effort to bring a hopeful message for 2021 and beyond, Forward features actor portrayals of the world’s most famous billionaires as they team up to fix worldwide problems by funding a new mega project called the Forward Global Initiative (FGI). Forward features the use of the latest deepfaketechnology to essentially create realistic representations of the public figures, without any official endorsements from the billionaires themselves.

“As I looked around, observed and tried to extrapolate everything going on in the world in 2020, I saw division, misinformation, confusion, depression, and cynicism,” said Andrew Oleck, Director of Forward. “As an artist whose interests favor hopeful visions of the future, I couldn’t really find one – so I decided to make one myself.”

In Forward, the three billionaires make a joint presentation on how futuristic technology can help fix big problems in the world today. A UV-blocking canopy satellite that can help re-freeze the polar ice caps, thereby cooling the planet and delaying global warming and sea level rise is present. 3D printing robots are introduced that can build housing, plant crops and trees, and even clean up the oceans. Quantum computing and AI is touted to help cure all disease, also acting as the leader of FGI he makes a plea to rally the world to the cause of saving the planet and improving the lives of billions.

“As a filmmaker wielding deepfake” technology I have the ability to provide an alternate reality that can inspire viewers to look towards the future with a renewed optimism,” said Oleck. “In the past year I saw the top billionaires being vilified for increasing their wealth while the rest of the world was in economic hardship. In Forward, I wanted to redeem these guys, who in reality seem to care about the future, shown by their philanthropic pursuits and by creating technology that aims to change the world for the better. I chose to portray the world’s biggest tech billionaires because they all seem to hold similar visions of a hopeful future, and if they all teamed up together to make an address like this, it would create one giant loudspeaker that the world would hear.

Forward is sequel of sorts to the 2018 “A World Without Facebook” directed by Oleck. The film went viral on Facebook with nearly 100 million views to date.  A World Without Facebook was even mistaken as a real announcement from the the social network. That film received some press coverage, most notably in Gizmodo. With Forward, the filmmaker is hoping to bring some light at the end of a tough 2020 and a bumpy start in 2021, to help show what’s possible with unity instead of division and revive optimism for a brighter future.
