Band’s Single "Fire Me Up" Out Now
Los Angeles, CA (PRUnderground) December 19th, 2019
Previously known as ‘Prima Donna,’ the Philadelphia based rock/pop band has rebranded as ‘Gemtarra.’ The first full-length CD “Not Having Fun” the band released under their prior name has been played by over 200 college radio stations across the country, charting in the top 10 on many of them, and received rave reviews. The album also received commercial airplay in Delaware and digital airplay as well.
In 2018, the group felt it was the right time for a change and Gemtarra was born. The band’s new name is derived from two Italian words, ‘Gemelli’ which means twins and ‘Chitarra’ which means guitar. Gemtarra was created and is fronted by twin sisters Gina and Tina Cieri, who also provide the songwriting and guitar playing. The rest of the band is comprised of Bryan Feddish on bass, Sunny Dee on drums, and Tawana Simons on percussion.
“Fire Me Up” is Gemtarra’s first single released under their new name and uses instrumentals that are somehow both buoyant and rowdy to draw their audience into their own unique sound. From electrifying guitar hooks to assertive percussion, these ladies are putting rock back on top of the rotation.
“Fire Me Up” is out now on SoundCloud and is Gemtarra’s first single off of their debut EP “Fired Up.” Check out their website for news and updates.
About Gemtarra
Gemtarra is a Philadelphia based band and was formed in 2018 by twin sisters Gina and Tina Cieri. The name of the band was created by blending two Italian words, ‘Gemilli’ which means twins and ‘Chitarra’ which means guitar. The band originally started out as a trio named “Prima Donna” and garnered a lot of attention with their releases under that name, including making the top 10 lists of many college radio stations. Now that they’ve grown artistically and as a band, Gina and Tina Cieri (songwriting and guitar), Bryan Feddish (bass), Sunny Dee (drums), Megan Glaubitz (voice) and Tawana Simons (percussion) are ready to show the world Gemtarra. “Fire Up” was recorded at Studio 4 in Conshohocken with the Grammy award-winning Producer/Engineer Phil Nicolo.
