Flahavan’s National Oatmeal Month Against Hunger

Industry: Food & Drink

Flahavan’s Irish Oats Donates Funds to City Harvest This January

New York, NY (PRUnderground) December 17th, 2018

More than 1.2 million New Yorkers don’t know where their next meal is coming from, including close to one in five children. Flahavan’s, the #1 selling brand of oatmeal in Ireland, is inviting broadcast stations across the tri-state area to fight hunger by enjoying a bowl of Flahavan’s oatmeal on-air during National Oatmeal Month. Flahavans’ goal is to raise funds for City Harvest, whose mission is to rescue food that would otherwise go to waste and deliver it to soup kitchens and food pantries across the city.

For each morning TV show that enjoys a bowl of Flahavan’s oatmeal on-air anytime during the month of January, Flahavan’s will donate $1,000 to City Harvest to feed over 4,000 people for a day. Flahavan’s target is to feed 20,000 New Yorkers through this initiative. Flahavan’s will also donate their naturally creamy, nutritious, minimally-processed oatmeal to provide over 1,000 healthy breakfasts to New Yorkers.

City Harvest’s programs help food-insecure New Yorkers access nutritious food, such as oatmeal. “Flahavan’s Irish Oats are sustainably produced, non-GMO and minimally processed.” says Natalie Rizzo, Registered Dietitian and fan of Flahavan’s oats. “I’m a runner, so I look for whole grains with slow-release energy. Foods that keep me feeling full longer, are high in protein and fiber, like oats from the Southeast of Ireland, are essential in my diet. Flahavan’s oatmeal has a naturally creamy taste, so I’m able to enjoy eating oatmeal for breakfast everyday.”

“We are thrilled to partner with Flahavan’s for their National Oatmeal Month initiative,” says Rebecca Fontes of City Harvest. “Nearly half of New Yorkers struggle to cover basic expenses – meaning many of our neighbors don’t always know where their next meal is coming from. City Harvest is dedicated to feeding our neighbors in need, and we couldn’t do it without the support of partners like Flahavan’s. Thanks to the Flahavan’s team and their initiatives throughout National Oatmeal Month, City Harvest will be able to feed thousands of New Yorkers at the most vulnerable time of year.”
