Industry: Non Profit & Charity

Fortitude Careers will offer a new Winter Build program for young adults beginning February 6, 2023

Redwood City, CA (PRUnderground) January 31st, 2023

Fortitude Carriers, a leading nonprofit organization committed to training young adults for careers in the trades, has announced that it will offer a new Winter Build program for young adults aged 18 to 24. The program’s first cohort is scheduled to begin on February 6, 2023.

Fortitude’s 10-week intensive program will provide young adults with valuable opportunities for learning and exploring careers in the trades. Participants will learn the basics of the construction industry, develop experience using machinery and tools, and receive on-site training and mentoring from experienced instructors, qualified tradesmen, and educators. Each participant will also earn six professional certifications that will help distinguish them in the workforce with valuable knowledge in the areas of OSHA regulations and forklift, boom lift, scissor lift, traffic flagger, and Hilti tool operation.

“COVID-19 changed the course for many young adults,” remarked Nicole Davis, President of Fortitude Careers. “Young adults affected by the pandemic missed a critical two-year window for developing career and life-based skills. Many lost their direction, making it challenging to chart a path for their professional life. Fortitude is helping young adults find the right path, manage their work and home life, and get the most out of a rewarding career. We are proud that at the end of 2022, 75 percent of our graduates began careers in construction or went on to college,” she added.

In addition to developing skills for the construction industry, the Winter Build program will also teach young adults how to jumpstart successful careers through developing critical soft skills. Participants will be exposed to lessons on financial and relationship management, communications, emotional regulation, personal responsibility, and other key topics for finding long-term success in today’s modern workforce.

Designed to enhance opportunities for members of our nation’s young, entry-level workforce, Fortitude is proud to be offering the new Winter Build program to young adults aged 18 to 24 for free, and empowering them with access to local community leaders and organizations. The program will match graduating participants with one of several local organizations that have displayed a commitment to not just hiring Fortitude graduates, but guiding their early career experience and supporting their success as well. Current Fortitude partners include Webcor, Swinerton, Southland Industries, XL Construction, Prime Electric, Cody Brock Builders, Hilti Tools, and others.

Each day, Fortitude is pioneering programs that train young adults for careers in the trades and empower them with skills for successfully navigating both life and work.
