Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity Feature Aly Aleigha’s “Awestruck” as Easter Season Song

Aly Aleigha received her Bachelors of Arts degree at Franciscan University in Steubenville double-majoring in Theology and Catechetics with a concentration in Youth Ministry.  She has captivated countless people of all ages–catechizing middle school children, high schoolers, College Campus ministry and adult audiences. She counts  Bon Iver, Novo Amor, Mumford & Sons, Vance Joy and the The Oh Hello’s among her influences

On writing ‘Awestruck’, she reflected “ When I wrote this song, I was in a really good place.  I was happy, heart full to the brim, truly in awe of the Lord’s goodness–and this song flowed out of me to praise the Lord for that gift.  I thought maybe this was similar to the joy Adam & Eve knew in the garden before sin entered the world, when everything was simply perfect…yet in a post-Fall world, we only know joy in contrast to hardship.

When we experience difficult times we often think back to when life was “better.”  But even in challenging seasons when the world comes crashing in on us, scripture urges us to “offer the Lord a sacrifice of praise”. Praise is fundamentally directed outward, not about inward emotions… Because in every season of life, every moment, in every breath we take, God is constantly upholding us, and He entered into our darkness to bring His light.”
