“Franciscans have always been at the heart Our Lady of Guadalupe devotion. Franciscan Bishop Zumárraga was first to see the Gift." said Sr Julie Ann Sheahan.

During these Marian feasts of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary and Our Lady of Guadalupe, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity pray with various dioceses through Mary’s intercession and share images that encourage a relationship with the Mother of Jesus who offers her protection. Mary said: “Are you not under my protection”. We also remember her words to Juan Diego, “Do this be assured of it in your heart, my littlest one, that I myself, I am the entirely and ever Virgin Saint Mary, Mother of the true Divinity, God Himself; because of Him, life goes on, creation goes on…”
Nuestra Santísima Madre María, Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, nos consuela y nos fortalece.
Among the featured Parishes, imagery and dioceses are Our Lady of Guadalupe Pastorate in the Madison Diocese, St Andrew in the Tucson Diocese, Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine in Midland Texas – Home parish of a Franciscan Sister in formation.
Sister Concepcion commented early in her Franciscan formation “I think there have been so many Saints that have interceded for me during my discernment of my vocation. An influence from the beginning from me has been the Virgin Mary, specifically Our Lady of Guadalupe. She has always been a mother to me and has guided me, and was especially present to me during the early parts of my discernment”.
Church authorities have sanctioned digital reproduction of a limited number of images of Our Lady of Guadalupe to be distributed to a number of countries. Each reproduction has touched the original image housed in Mexico City. Midland’s Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish and Shrine serves as the permanent home for one of these images, the first in the United States.
