Fun & Serious to be the first Spanish video game festival on Steam

Fun & Serious 2021 will be made available on the most paramount online PC video game store, where it will aim to promote the local video game industry, watch the conferences for free and discover a selection of games created by the Spanish video game industry. The festival reveals the latest names added to its program of speeches and conferences scheduled for this weekend.

Bilbao, Spain (PRUnderground) December 10th, 2021

This new edition of the Fun & Serious Game Festival, one of the key festivals for the Spanish video game industry, which the public can attend in person or virtually, will be taking place for the first time on Steam. The most important online video game store in the world will have a page dedicated to the Bilbao festival; in it, you can view the conferences and also discover a selection of games created by the Spanish video game industry.

With this initiative, Fun & Serious wants to further promote Spanish made games recognised both internationally and at the local level. The talent of Spanish developers will be represented by a selection of the best titles in recent years; as renowned and awarded as Blasphemous, Call of the Sea, Do Not Feed the Monkeys, Aragami 2, Grotto, Deiland… all of which are magnificent creations that they will delight the most demanding of players. Several of these titles will also have a special discount during the festival. There will also be free demos; both of already released games, together with betas of titles currently in development, and a showcase of upcoming games that the festival wants to highlight for their original content and quality.

The festival also announces the latest names to roundup the roster of guests invited to participate in its show:

Maye MacSwiney, Head of Communication and Marketing Strategy at Riot Games for Spain, Portugal and Italy, will talk about Arcane, the animated series based on the League of Legends universe that since its premiere on November 7, continues to be in the top 10 shows on Netflix in 76 countries (after having led the rankings of views in 87 nations). She will delve into how the transmedia expansion of video games is one of the workhorses of the industry worldwide.

Marcos García (Gammera Nest) and Gustavo Maeso (Mediaset Games) will also touch on the issue of the transmedia leap talking about Way Down, the video game based on the film of the same name. Recreating the Bank of Spain that Jaume Balagueró filmed for this story of thieves has been one of the many challenges of developing this atmospheric experience full of suspense that is the first launch of Mediaset Games, the subsidiary of original digital entertainment content for the use of film and television licenses of Mediaset Spain in video game format together with national and international studios. Among all the speakers, the necessities that work best to get a higher audience will be shared and how this can contribute to, or not, in the sale of video games.

Luis García, from LLC Shinyuden, a Tokyo publisher of indie games will talk about the special characteristics of this country when it comes to publishing a game there, and the steps to achieve it successfully; and finally, Tatiana Delgado, Co-founder and Creative Director from Out of the Blue games, and José Raluy, head of development at Tequila Works, will talk about Blade: The Edge of Darkness, the Spanish video game that revolutionized the national industry 20 years ago.

The Fun & Serious Game Festival, held every December in Bilbao, is the largest video-game festival in Europe and a key meeting-point for the industry as a whole.

The event’s mission is to recognize and promote the work of video-game producers, directors, artists and developers, based on a comprehensive program of conferences, roundtables, networking and activities, aimed at both companies and the general public.
