Gear On The Fly, LLC, Launches TRAK Defensive Tool

Flavio Pellegrino, President at Gear On The Fly, LLC, is thrilled to announce that their company is launching the TRAK defensive tool.

TRAK is a lightweight, titanium knife designed for use by those with active lifestyles, and it has been adopted by runners because it offers convenient practicality. It weighs less than 1/2 ounce with its sheath, and it can easily be carried around the neck. TRAK can also be worn on the arm with a specially crafted iPhone/iPod armband that customers can purchase.

Since it’s made of military grade titanium, TRAK won’t rust or corrode. TRAK also features Secure Grip Retention, which makes it easy for the runner to place her index finger inside the retention hole, wrap her thumb around TRAK, and use it without fear of it slipping or falling to the ground.

According to Pellegrino, “TRAK was just something I had originally designed to give my daughter for when she was out alone. I was just being a protective dad. I had made a similar design back in 2013 for a diving customer, and after some modifications, I thought it would be the perfect knife for someone to wear while out on a run. The more friends I showed my new design to, the more requests I received to make one for their daughters or wives. We decided to launch it on Kickstarter to see if there was a need, and it just went viral!”

Pellegrino is a part-time knifemaker, and he originally designed TRAK as a way for divers to cut themselves out of fishing lines. Now, TRAK is patent-pending and being adopted by runners. TRAK has also been reviewed by sites such as Gear Diary, Trendhunter, GearJunkie, and Cool Material.

When the campaign for the Titanium Runner’s Anywhere Knife (TRAK) first launched, many people were skeptical about the need for such a product. Over the past few months, three female joggers were murdered when running alone, and all of a sudden, Pellegrino was inundated with media requests and orders.

1,180 backers pledged a total of $62,779 to fund the project on Kickstarter. In September 2016, Gear On The Fly, LLC, started TRAK production, and in October, the first shipments will be sent to Kickstarter backers.
