Gits wins Engine Technology of the Year award

Gits recently won the Engine Technology of the Year award during the fifth annual Diesel Progress Summit. The award honors excellence and achievement in the engine and powertrain industries.

Held at the Galt House Hotel, Louisville, KY, the Diesel Progress Summit brought together more than 200 subject matters experts to discuss changes across the power industry due to the introduction of new fuel types, including hydrogen, biofuels, and electrification.

“For this award, we showcased our new generation of modular pre-validated hot side exhaust gas recirculation valves and exhaust back-pressure valves for diesel, gas and hydrogen internal combustion engines in the 9-16 L range,” said Koen Mulder, global product manager “With this development, we support our customers need to comply with the latest emissions standards, and reduce fuel consumption at the best total cost of ownership and shortest time to market.”

Gits top products include:

– Exhaust brake valves or exhaust back-pressure valves (EBV) used on large commercial vehicles as a supplemental braking system and thermal management for engine exhaust after treatment systems by restricting exhaust flow using a butterfly valve in the exhaust line.

– Hot side exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valves regulate the gas through the EGR cooler, allowing recirculation to the combustion chamber, drastically improving emissions performance by lowering harmful nitrogen oxide pollutant emissions.

Gits new generation valves have a modular design with pre-validated building blocks. During the Six Sigma design process, the functions within the valve are separately designed, optimized and validated for different types of loads, engine sizes and methods of actuation. The individual building blocks are combined to create a valve which fits best to customer requirements. The benefits from this design include high positioning accuracy, best-in-class sealing against leakage, and long durability.
