SCPTR, which stands for Salt City Psychedelic Therapy & Research, is a Utah-based non-profit dedicated to advancing the field of psychedelic medicine through education, research and clinical work. SCPTR was founded this year by Dr. Parth Gandhi, PhD (Neuropsychologist & Psychoanalyst) and Dr. Reid Robison, MD MBA (Research Psychiatrist & Ketamine Therapy thought leader), based on the overwhelming research that supports the therapeutic use of psychedelic medicines in the treatment of emotional and psychosomatic disorders.

SCPTR today announced the inaugural Intermountain Psychedelics Symposium as an educational forum for all individuals interested in the field. The conference will take place on Friday 1/17/2020 and Saturday 1/18/2020 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and aims to not only provide education, but also to bring together a network of local interested persons and professionals to create opportunities for synergy in areas such as research, therapy, and healing. To register for the conference, visit scptr.org.

The Keynote speaker, Dr. James Fadiman, PhD, a legend in the field and author of The Psychedelic Explorer’s Guide, will be speaking on Friday evening, and will also deliver the keynote address on Saturday’s full conference day. Other notable speakers include: Phil Wolfson, MD (author of The Ketamine Papers), Brent Turnipseed, MD (Ketamine Psychiatrist & Researcher), Stacia Butterfield (Holotropic Breathwork from the Grof Institute), Sara Gael (Director of MAPS Harm Reduction and Zendo Project), and others who are leading the way to bring back psychedelic medicines to the people.

MAPS  (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies), a sponsor of the conference, will conduct a full day Zendo Project psychedelic peer support workshop on Sunday 1/19/2020 to provide harm reduction training to anyone interested in methods to help transform and integrate difficult psychedelic experiences. There has been a remarkable resurgence of research in psychedelic medicine in the past two decades, and SCPTR aims to pass the scepter of knowledge to the public by bringing the highest level of scientific evidence and applied clinical practice to Utah.

“Psychedelic Therapy involves the use of a psychoactive substance in order to help an individual gain access to unconscious, suppressed feelings, hidden patterns, and much more. The psycholytic state lubricates the therapeutic process, allowing access to alternate perception, healing, and forgiveness. We can heal depression and anxiety within these states.” says Parth Gandhi, PhD, Executive Director of SCPTR.

“The field of mental health is in desperate need of new treatment modalities, and there is a growing body of evidence that psychedelic substances can be used to safely and effectively treat a variety of conditions,” adds Dr. Robison, founding board member of SCPTR. “Not only do these tools help expand consciousness and gain access to insights from deep within the psyche,” adds Dr. Robison, “but in over 10 years of practicing psychiatry, I’ve never seen anything as effective as psychedelic medicines for those resistant to traditional treatment methods, especially in conditions like Depression, Addiction, and PTSD.”
