Gospel for Asia Highlights Injustice of Extreme Poverty in Asia on World Day of Social Justice

Industry: Non Profit & Charity

Special report entitled “Seeking Justice & Defending Human Rights” conveys GFA’s concerns about the impoverished in Asia.

Wills Point, TX (PRUnderground) February 20th, 2019

While welcoming an international day of awareness that turns the global focus on issues keeping millions in grinding poverty, missionary organization Gospel for Asia is year-round helping to bring relief to the underprivileged trapped in that cycle.

In an ongoing series of in-depth articles addressing major social issues, Gospel for Asia looks at the reasons why “extreme poverty remains unacceptably high,” according to the World Bank, with parts of Asia among places where incomes for the poor are growing slower than average.

Almost a quarter of India’s 1.3 billion population lives below the poverty line, the GFA report notes, surviving on less than $1.90 a day. And millions across Asia barely manage to eke out a living because of “a complex web of factors,” including social prejudice, gender discrimination, lack of education, government inaction and more. Their desperate circumstances force many families to send their children out to work rather than enrolling them in school—worldwide, there are almost 170 million child laborers–while others are trapped in modern-day slavery.

While other groups address some of the top-down issues that crush so many—cultural, industrial, economic, political and religious— GFA’s report details how it and other organizations are involved in grassroots efforts to lift them up.

Gospel for Asia is deeply concerned about the plight of millions of underserved people who suffer in silence across the 10/40 window and around the globe, and encourages the public to read this special report, “Seeking Justice and Defending Human Rights” published in three parts on Patheos.com. The report is also available in its entirety at the GFA website.

GFA has published an entire series of special reports on its website to raise public awareness of some of the most prevalent injustices suffered by the disenfranchised.

“We believe that, as people created in the image of God, everyone has the right to dignified, fulfilling, and fairly compensated work,” Dr. Yohannan, founder of GFA, said. “In helping people with their working situations, we are able to demonstrate practically God’s love and care for them and their families. Small steps can make a big difference for individuals.”
